Demo Patch 3: fixes for track building and tram operations

Smoother depot departures, fixes for track building and clearer demo guidance in Naumburg and Portland.

Getting started and operations

  • Brief movement hitches: Simulation processing time now counts towards the tick interval. This prevents the recurring pause caused by simulation and rendering drifting apart during steady movement. Actual stops are preserved.
  • Depot departures: Trams no longer remain unnecessarily limited to shunting speed after leaving the depot. The appropriate track speed limits apply again. Signals and vehicles ahead still take priority.
  • Naumburg's first departure: The first scheduled departure can begin once the simulation is running, without waiting for the next full minute.
  • Following a vehicle: The followed tram moves to the top of the fleet overview and scrolls into view, even if you had scrolled further down the list.
  • The next stage of the guide: The button for completing a finished stage is easier to find. Portland's opening stage no longer depends on other operators' services.
  • More starting capital in Portland: New Portland demo games also start with €5 million. Any prepared starter vehicles are paid for from this budget. Existing saves keep their current balance.

Track building and level crossings

  • Track-building crash: Invalid track-preview geometry could trigger a path error. The preview now handles this safely.
  • Less repeated work: The track preview reuses previously calculated sections, reducing repeated calculations as you move the preview.
  • Naumburg's main station: Track building now accounts for the shelter roofs on the station forecourt, preventing new tracks from passing through them.
  • Multiple tracks at level crossings: Crossings account for additional parallel tracks. Signs and warning lights match the region: German equipment in Naumburg, American crossbucks and red warning lights in Portland.
  • Track crossings in Portland: Right-angle crossings are no longer mistaken for switches. Trams continue straight through instead of making a 90-degree turn. Affected crossings are also corrected when loading existing saves.

Visual fixes

  • Poles and stop furniture: Objects on the far side are drawn behind the tram according to their position, while nearer objects remain in front.
  • Portland's bridges: Four new models join the three existing ones. Broadway, Steel, Hawthorne, Burnside, Morrison, Fremont and Marquam now appear at their respective locations. Targeted fixes to bridge approaches and railings reduce unwanted overlaps.
  • Tram articulations: Corrected the connections between body sections on the affected tram models.
  • Fullscreen without the title bar: Fullscreen now also hides the Windows title bar. Windowed mode remains available in Settings.

We are continuing to work on Portland's performance. The demo can still have bugs after this update. If you find one, please include the region, steps to reproduce it and a screenshot.
